Our Dog (Chief Lighting Officer)

Every great duo needs a third opinion. Preferably one with four paws.

Meet the most important member of the fictional Lamp Brothers universe: our golden retriever. Official title? Chief Lighting Officer.

His qualifications include finding the sunniest spot in the room, afternoon naps, enthusiasm for snacks, and absolutely no understanding of electricity. Despite that last point, he remains remarkably confident in his abilities.

The Employee Nobody Hired

In our imaginary world, the brothers can spend ages discussing where a new lamp should go. One wants it beside the sofa. The other thinks it would be more practical next to the reading chair. Meanwhile, the dog has already fallen asleep underneath it. Decision made.

He doesn't attend meetings, take notes, or answer emails. But he'll appear immediately if someone opens a packet of biscuits. The brothers call that dedication.

His Favorite Lighting Style?

Natural sunlight. Obviously. If there's a patch of sunlight moving across the floor, he'll find it and follow it. He reminds us that a home is about more than how a room looks in photographs. It's about how comfortable and welcoming it feels when you're living in it.

For you, that might mean a cozy reading corner. For him, it's a soft rug and enough space to stretch out dramatically, preferably in the middle of the hallway.

The One Lighting Rule He Actually Understands

Comfort matters. Our fictional Chief Lighting Officer doesn't care whether a lamp is Scandinavian, industrial, vintage-inspired, or contemporary. He appreciates a home where everyone can relax. His presence is a fun reminder to consider the everyday realities of a space, especially when pets are involved.

Pet-Friendly Lighting Considerations

Keep Cords Out of Reach

Arrange loose cables securely, inspect them for damage, and keep them away from places where curious pets could chew or pull them.

Choose Stable Locations

A table lamp near the edge of a busy surface could be knocked over. Use stable furniture and suitable placement in rooms where pets run or play.

Be Mindful of Heat

Some bulbs and fixtures become hot. Follow the product's safety instructions and keep pets away from hot surfaces and exposed light sources.

Check Your Product Specifications

Make sure a lighting product suits its intended location, electrical supply, and installation environment. A good-looking lamp still needs to be used safely.

A Very Important Performance Review

Punctuality: Questionable. Teamwork: Excellent, especially when treats are involved. Office morale: Outstanding. Ability to brighten someone's day: Exceptional.

Would we put him in charge of electrical installations? Absolutely not. Would we invite him to every imaginary Lamp Brothers photoshoot? Without hesitation.

Home Is About More Than Furniture

The best parts of home are often things you can't buy: conversations around the dinner table, quiet evenings on the couch, people you love, and sometimes a slightly oversized golden retriever who believes the entire sofa belongs to him.

Good lighting. Good company. Great naps.
